71yo M’sian Man Allegedly Dismembers Ex-Fiancé After She Remarries

Jealousy can kill.

A shocking murder case unfolded in Sabah after rubbish collectors discovered dismembered human body parts in garbage bags near the Indah Permai flats early yesterday morning.

At around 7am on Feb 12, a garbage truck worker clearing trash in the residential area stumbled upon what appeared to be human remains.

Police later confirmed the discarded items were parts of a woman’s body that had been cut into pieces and thrown out like ordinary waste.

Investigators soon identified a 71-year-old man as the main suspect. He has since been arrested along with his 19-year-old son, who police say was present outside the house during the crime.

According to China Press, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said early investigations show the motive was jealousy and a dispute over engagement money.

The suspect was previously engaged to the female victim, but after their engagement was called off and she remarried another man earlier this year, tensions reportedly escalated.

Police mentioned that the suspect had demanded the return of around RM7,000 spent during their relationship, a demand that was fulfilled by the victim.

Despite repaying the funds, the suspect continued to harass her by calling from multiple phone numbers.

On the night of the incident, the suspect reportedly met the victim at a residence in Sepanggar.

An argument broke out, believed to be sparked by jealousy over her remarriage, and in a fit of rage, he allegedly used a machete to kill her before dismembering the body.

Arrests after body parts linked to missing woman

Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Supt. Sairo said police received a tip from a witness who saw the victim running from a unit in distress, only to be dragged back inside by a man.

Police quickly tracked down the main suspect after identifying him from CCTV and witness accounts.

At around 8.10pm, officers arrested the 71-year-old at the Emergency Department of Queen Elizabeth Hospital II, where he was receiving medical treatment.

Around 10.30pm the same night, police arrested his 19-year-old son inside a home in the same area. Both suspects are now in custody as investigations continue.

Police also seized the clothing the suspect was wearing at the time of the crime, as well as a Nissan SUV believed to be connected to the case.

Victim identified as foreign national

The victim has been identified as a female foreign national holding an IMM13 refugee identification card.

Her son mentioned in his TikTok live that she had repaid all money owed to the suspect before remarrying another man in January.

He told China Press that his mother had planned to meet a friend in Kota Kinabalu on Wednesday (Feb 11) night.

When she failed to return home and stopped answering calls, the family became worried, only to be devastated the next day when gruesome photos began circulating online.

She said she was going out to meet a friend, and didn’t come home,” the son said. “We couldn’t reach her phone. Then I saw the photos online… and realised it was my mother.”

Police confirm they are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder) and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
