A group of seven men in Tanah Merah, Kelantan were slapped with warning notices from the Kelantan Islamic Affairs and Religious Department (JAHEIAK) for baring too much skin last Friday (Mar 17).
The men, who were in their 20s, failed to cover their aurat (private areas) by wearing shorts which were above their knees under the operation codenamed Ops Bersepadu, reported Sinar Harian.

Aside from that, authorities also raided a shisha business operating at a nearby eatery in Gertak Chaber. where they seized six shisha stoves and issued a compound notice under the Local Licensing, Trade, Business, and Industrial Act (MDTM) 2009.
Ops Bersepadu was a joint collaboration between the Tanah Merah District Council (MDTM), the Tanah Merah District Health Office (PKD), and the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).

According to a source within MDTM, 11 compounds amounting to RM1,900 were given for violations under the Tobacco Product Control Regulations (PPKHT) 2004 and five compounds totaling RM1,500 for violations under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
It also added that MDTM’s Enforcement Division is keeping a close eye and will carry out operations from time to time in order to curb shisha activities.
The public is also urged to give authorities information relating to activities that violate the law.
