A German man was found dead after reportedly falling off his bicycle near Masjid Perlop 1, Jalan Perlop 1, earlier today (Apr 9).
According to Deputy Superintendent Mohd. Rohaizimi Razali, the Acting District Police Chief of Sungai Siput, the police received a report of the incident at 10.46am.
The victim, a 67-year-old German national, was believed to have been cycling alone from his home in Ipoh to Sungai Siput when the incident occurred.
“When he arrived at the location, it is believed that the victim lost control of his bicycle and veered off the road. A preliminary inspection revealed no significant damage to the bicycle, except for some scratches,” said Mohd. Rohaizimi.
Personal belongings, including money and a mobile phone, were still found with the deceased.”
The victim’s body was transported to Sungai Siput Hospital for an autopsy. The results confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack.
So far, there are no criminal elements linked to the discovery of the victim’s body, and the case has been classified as a sudden death,” added the police chief.
The incident took place on a straight road with a slight downhill slope. It was reported that the victim was a regular cyclist in the area, often riding alone or with a group.
