A 63-year-old Japanese woman, affectionately nicknamed “Princess,” has tied the knot with her 31-year-old boyfriend, known as “Prince”, despite being six years older than her own mother-in-law.
The couple, who now run a marriage agency together, say their love story began with a “chance encounter” that blossomed into something unexpected.
From single mom to newlywed ‘princess’
According to Chanto Web, the woman, Azarashi, had been married for more than 20 years before divorcing at the age of 48 and raising her child as a single mother.
She tried dating apps and met a few boyfriends but eventually focused on running a pet clothing business while living alone with her dogs.
But that all changed in August 2020 when she found a lost mobile phone in a Tokyo café, where its owner, a young man who would later become her husband, came to retrieve it.

A week later, they coincidentally met on the same tram and began talking every night for hours after exchanging numbers.
Azarashi said she was drawn to how genuinely interested he seemed in everything she shared, from daily life routines to hobbies.
On their first date, he even handed her a love letter that simply read: “Please be my princess.”

They didn’t discover each other’s real ages until a month into dating — but their feelings for one another had already run so deep that it was too late to back out.
Reactions
While Azarashi’s son, who is six years older than the groom, gave his blessing, the young man’s mother initially voiced objections as she herself was younger than Azarashi.
Eventually, she relented after seeing her son’s determination in marrying Azarashi.

The couple registered their marriage in December 2022, and three years later, they still call each other “prince” and “princess”, do household chores together, and remain a loving duo.
Netizens were divided over the unusual union, with some supporting it and saying that Azarashi “looks young, confident, and financially independent” and “truly deserves to be loved.”
On the other hand, some wondered if her husband might one day leave for someone “younger and prettier.”

Azarashi, however, remains unfazed, saying she accepts whatever the future holds as long as they’re happy now.
