60yo M’sian Woman Ends Up With Over RM23K ‘Ah Long’ Debt She Borrowed To Fix Her Car

hmm
Borrowing money from loan sharks may seem like a quick fix, but the long-term consequences can be devastating.

One Malaysian woman in her 60s recently found herself in such a predicament, where a small loan of RM1,000 spiralled into a debt exceeding RM23,000.

Shared by NGO @persatuanhakmasyarakat on their TikTok account, the senior citizen revealed her struggles after turning to loan sharks to repair her car.

With no financial help from her children and a pressing need for transportation, she felt she had no other option.

I initially borrowed RM1,000, but the debt kept growing because of the high interest,” she explained.

Now, she owes RM23,580—a staggering amount compared to her modest RM2,000 monthly income.

The aunty shared that the loss of her car has been particularly difficult. She now has to rely on public transport, such as the LRT, which she’s unfamiliar with.

Barely Enough to Survive

Despite her efforts to repay the debt, the woman struggles to keep up with the mounting interest while juggling other financial commitments. Her hardships have taken a toll on her health, as she revealed:

“This week alone, I’ve barely eaten anything. I’ve lost 10kg,” she said.

Her desperate situation highlights the harsh reality of dealing with loan sharks. The burden of debt has left her unable to find a solution, pushing her further into financial despair.
