A couple in Petaling Jaya had the biggest fright of their lives after they discovered their young daughter was taken along with the car she was in.
Thankfully, the child was eventually found by police following a search operation for her whereabouts.
Left girl inside car to buy breakfast
According to China Press and NST, the incident occurred at 7.24am along Jalan PJS 6/4, Kampung Lindungan yesterday (Dec 17).
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the girl’s parents parked their car by the roadside and left her inside to go buy breakfast.

When they returned, they discovered that both their car and daughter was gone, prompting them to call the police immediately.
Found after 3 hours
A search operation codenamed “Op Tutup” was then launched to recover the stolen car and 5-year-old.
The child and car were eventually recovered at the Mentari Court apartment complex after three hours, where the girl was found safe and unharmed and later reunited with her family.

Shamsudin said police are currently tracking down the person behind the car theft, adding the case is being investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping.
He also reminded parents not to leave their children inside vehicles in unsafe conditions lest a similar situation occurs.
Those with further information on the case are urged to contact the nearest police station, the Petaling Jaya district police operations room at 03-79662222, or investigating officer Inspector Mohd Azman Ayob at 012-2237272.
