Such was the case for a five-year-old boy recently thrust into the spotlight after a heartbreaking incident caught on video.
According to the woman, the sight of such a young child left alone was heart-wrenching.
When she approached the boy, he revealed that his mother had not allowed him to join them at the restaurant, leaving him to fend for himself on the street.
This revelation shocked the woman, who couldn’t comprehend how any parent could abandon their child in such a manner.
‘Being poor is one thing, but don’t be stupid‘
The woman’s frustration was palpable as she recounted the event.
“Being poor is one thing, but don’t be stupid!” she said in the video, expressing her disbelief.
She questioned why the parents couldn’t have taken turns eating so that one of them could stay with the boy.
“The boy is only five years old, not even in school. When I asked how he got there, he said they came by car. They even have a car!”
Compelled by her concern for the boy, the woman offered him some bread and biscuits, noticing how eagerly he drank from the bottle she provided.
“He was so thirsty. He sucked the bottle so hard it dented,” she observed, highlighting the neglect the child had endured.
‘Don’t have so many kids if you can’t care for them‘
In her video, the woman also mentioned asking the boy if he had any siblings, to which he confirmed that he did.
The video has since gone viral, with many viewers echoing the woman’s outrage. The comments section was flooded with criticism directed at the boy’s parents, condemning their behaviour as irresponsible and cruel.
One commenter wrote, “Parents like this are the loudest when people talk about choosing not to have children or being childfree.”
Another added, “Change your mindset before you say that children are a blessing. Think of them as a trust first. Children are innocent.”
Yet another shared a personal experience, “I once saw something similar at around 9 PM near a food stall. A little child came to our table asking, ‘Do you want to buy corn?’ My heart broke when I asked where his father was, and he said he was in the car playing on his phone.”
