In a major boost for education accessibility, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that RM120 million will be allocated under Budget 2026 to provide free education via PTPTN.
This initiative is expected to benefit 5,800 students from low-income (B40) families who are currently pursuing their studies at public universities (IPTAs).
The move aims to ease the financial burden faced by underprivileged students and ensure that financial constraints do not hinder their access to higher education.

By converting PTPTN loans into full scholarships, the government hopes to empower more Malaysians to continue their academic journey and build a brighter future.
Anwar emphasised that education remains one of the government’s top priorities, and such measures are part of broader efforts to promote social mobility and equal opportunity for all.
