A Singaporean climber suffered injuries after falling on Mount Kinabalu early on Monday morning, March 24.

Reported by The Star, a 56-year-old woman, who was descending the mountain, fell at approximately 7.00am near KM7.2.

The incident prompted an emergency response when the Ranau Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 7.33am.

Swift rescue operation

A team of 17 Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) personnel, along with Sabah Parks rangers and health officials, were quickly deployed to the scene.

According to Asst Fire Supt Ridwan Mohd Taib, the victim had sustained head injuries from the fall and was unable to continue her descent.

The rescue team worked swiftly to administer first aid and stop the bleeding.

Using a Robinson stretcher, they carefully transported the injured climber to Timpohon Gate, the main entry point for Mount Kinabalu.

Handed over for medical care

Upon reaching Timpohon Gate, the victim was transferred to an ambulance team for further medical treatment.

The fire department conducted a final safety check, concluding the operation at 12.04pm.
