54yo M’sian Man Loses Breath And Dies While Hiking In T’gganu

A heart attack is suspected to be the cause.
In recent weeks, there has been numerous incidents of people suddenly collapsing and subsequently losing their lives while out on hiking excursions.

Sadly, another similar incident took place a few days ago at Kuala Terengganu, where it involved a police officer who suffered shortness of breath before succumbing to his untimely demise.

In a report by BuletinTV3, the victim was identified as 54-year-old Azlan Ali, who was a police sergeant from the General Operations Force (PGA), 9th Battalion, Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus in Terengganu.

According to Azlan’s wife Sakiah Yusof, she said her husband had gone hiking with their daughter at Bukit Besar on Friday (Sept 20).

She added that at 10.30am, she received a call from her daughter and was told that her husband had lost consciousness due to breathlessness and that the fire department had been contacted for help.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters experienced difficulty locating the victim and had to use a stretcher to carry him down.

Tragically, Azlan was pronounced dead while receiving treatment from a medical officer who was also at the scene.

It is understood that Azlan had just returned from a month-long assignment in Kelantan and was believed to have died due to a heart attack.

Meanwhile, Kuala Terengganu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor confirmed the incident, adding that the case was classified as sudden death (SDR).

Azlan’s body was later taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Kuala Terengganu for further action.
