Malaysians travelling during the Christmas holidays can enjoy 50% toll discounts on December 23 and 24, 2025, as announced by the Ministry of Works (KKR) in a statement released today.
Discount applies to private Class 1 vehicles
The toll discount will be given to Class 1 private vehicles, excluding the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Toll Plaza, Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza, and Penang Bridge (Class 2 vehicles), which are entry/exit points to Singapore.
RM20.65 million set aside for compensation
The government will cover the financial impact of the discount, which is estimated at RM20.65 million, to compensate highway concession companies affected by this move.
The initiative is meant to ease the financial burden of Malaysians travelling home for Christmas celebrations, school holidays, and family reunions. It also supports the Malaysia MADANI goal of helping all communities across different races and beliefs,” it wrote.
Selected dates to control holiday traffic
December 23 and 24 were chosen to help manage traffic flow during peak travel periods. This is part of efforts to improve highway operations, including rest stops and lay-bys.
KKR encourages drivers to use the Tuju Highway Navigation App LLM and MyPLUS-TTA app to plan their journeys. These apps provide travel time advisory (TTA) and traffic updates.
Follow highway rules and drive safely
Drivers are advised to follow road safety rules and avoid speeding, while also planning rest breaks if tired. The public can check traffic conditions via LLM’s official Facebook, TikTok, and X (@LLMtrafik), or contact the LLM Traffic Management Centre at 1-800-88-7752.
Minister urges road users to cooperate
Minister of Works YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi urged all drivers to drive responsibly and work together to keep highways safe, clean, and efficient, especially during the festive period.
