A four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle made a shocking appearance in the form of crashing straight into a food stall located in Kepong and left an elderly man severely injured.
Aside from the human casualty, the crash also destroyed furniture, several pillars, a safety fence, and a Datuk Kong shrine.

Loud crash heard
A reader named Rachel Chan told WeirdKaya that the incident took place at around 3.30pm yesterday (Jan 21), adding her mother was present at the time and that her stall was two steps away from the scene of the crash.
“My mother heard a loud noise and quickly rushed over, where she was an uncle covered in blood. His forehead had a gash and both his legs appeared to be fractured.
“She then called some of her friends who are part of a community that owns a first aid team and van and they came to the uncle’s aid,” she said.

Driver nowhere to be seen
When asked whether her mother managed to catch a glimpse of the 4WD driver, Rachel said no one was able to as they were busy tending to the injured man.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng later confirmed the driver’s disappearance, telling Sin Chew Daily that eyewitnesses saw someone leaving the scene but no police report has been lodged thus far.
He added that efforts will be made to trace the owner of the vehicle in order to identify the driver involved.
Lim also said the injured uncle was sent to the hospital for treatment, adding that things could have been worse if more diners were at the stall.

Safety fence reduced crash’s impact
Commenting on the crash further, Lim said the safety fence erected outside the stall and along the main road had actually played a vital role in preventing more severe consequences.
“In 2024, I requested Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to install the safety fence for two reasons: to address traffic congestion caused by indiscriminate parking, and to ensure public safety.
“When the proposal was made, the hawkers were strongly opposed to it and claimed it would make loading and unloading goods inconvenient.

“However, I insisted on the safety fence being built and the crash has proven that the decision was the right one,” he explained.
