A 49-year-old used-clothing trader was accused of committing incest against his 18-year-old daughter, which resulted in her getting pregnant.
According to NST, the accused, who was unnamed, allegedly committed the offense at their home in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, at 9am on Oct 30.
He was charged under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between 10 and 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
However, he pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out to him before judge Priscilla Hemamalini Nadarajan at the Alor Setar Sessions Court today.
As for the victim, she’s currently resting at a hospital and will undergo treatment until she gives birth to her child.
Abuse reportedly went on for years
Sin Chew Daily reported that the accused and his wife have a total of five children, with the victim being the oldest daughter.
It also reported that the victim was sexually abused by her father for a total of 12 years from the time when she was only six years old, where the abuse usually took place whenever she was absent from school due to illness.
She only discovered about her pregnancy after experiencing abdominal discomfort and seeking medical attention at a clinic on Nov 10.
Furthermore, the accused has a prior criminal record, where he was arrested in 1995 for possessing stolen goods and having a large number of pornographic videos.
The court denied bail for the accused and set Dec 8 for case mention.
