A man in Penang lost consciousness and slumped onto the road while returning home after having dinner outside.
He later succumbed to a heart attack, which a family member said was attributed to his sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits.
46yo M’sian man collapses onto road after dinner
China Press reported that the victim, 46-year-old Xie Wenxin (transliteration), was a single man who lived with his mother and worked odd jobs.
He went to a coffeeshop located at Caunter Hall for dinner at 8pm and left for home on his motorcycle at around 10pm yesterday (Aug 13).
Suddenly, he lost consciousness and collapsed onto the road outside the coffeeshop. Paramedics later rushed to the scene and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him.

Despite their efforts to resuscitate him while on the way to the Penang General Hospital, Xie remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 11.30pm.
His mother and sister later came to the hospital mortuary to claim his body.
Unhealthy lifestyle to blame for death
Speaking to the Chinese daily, Xie’s sister said an autopsy revealed that her brother had multiple blocked blood vessels in his heart and died from a heart attack.

She added Xie rarely communicated with the family and that she believed he knew about his heart condition but chose to hide it from them.
“He hardly exercised and often ate supper and loved nasi kandar. Our mother also recently complained to me that he had been eating supper frequently.
“If my brother had known he had heart disease and was willing to see a doctor and take medication, I believe he could have been saved,” she said.

Xie’s funeral will take place at 11am on Saturday (Aug 16), after which his remains will be cremated.
