A single mother was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh after admitting to sexually abusing her eight-year-old son two years ago.
The accused is a 44-year-old woman who works as a soldier.
Offence took place at home in Sungai Udang
According to the charge sheet, the incident happened at around 10.30 pm in late December 2024.

The woman, who is the victim’s biological mother, admitted to committing the act against her son who was eight years old at the time.
Charged under sexual offences against children act
The offence falls under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same law.
If convicted under this provision, offenders can face up to 20 years in prison and whipping.
Accused pleaded guilty in court
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Asnini Kamarudin.
The accused was not represented by a lawyer during the proceedings.
During mitigation, she told the court she is a single mother and asked for a lighter sentence as she still needs to care for her three children.
Jail term begins from arrest date
Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin sentenced the woman to seven years in prison.
The court ordered that the sentence will begin from the date of her arrest.
