Today (Oct 22), a tragic accident in Sitiawan saw a 43-year-old woman killed after a lorry crashed into a group of people who had stopped to help an accident victim at Jalan Kampung Kayan, near the Public Works Department (JKR) office in Lekir, Sitiawan.
According to Kosmo, Perak Fire and Rescue Department Acting Assistant Director of Operations, Shazlean Mohd. Hanafiah, said the department received an emergency call at 8.19am.

A team from the Sitiawan Fire and Rescue Station was immediately sent to the location. When they arrived, they found a Honda car that had skidded onto the roadside but the two men inside were not injured.
A SYM motorcycle had stopped to offer help, but before assistance could be rendered, a lorry suddenly crashed into the scene.
The impact triggered a multi-vehicle collision that also involved a Toyota Hilux and a Honda EX5.

Woman killed, children among the injured
The woman who died was riding on the motorcycle with her 43-year-old husband and their two daughters, aged six and three. Her husband and both children suffered injuries, along with the lorry driver and the rider of the Honda EX5.
Firefighters used hydraulic equipment during the rescue, before handing the injured victims to the Ministry of Health. The deceased was handed to the police for further action.
The operation was brought under control at 9.40 a.m. and was fully completed at 11.10am,” Shazlean said.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
