A 3-year-old boy from Jiangsu, China, was seriously injured after a smartphone reportedly exploded while he was playing with it.
Boy caught in sudden explosion
On Sept 7, a user posted a video showing the child jumping on a sofa while holding a smartphone.
Several adults were seated nearby, paying little attention as the child continued jumping up and down.
Moments later, the device burst into flames, causing panic in the room.

Severe burns to hands and legs
According to 8world, the uploader mentioned that the boy suffered burns on his left hand and legs.
Blisters formed and some parts of his skin had peeled off due to the severity of the injuries.
Company begins investigation
According to reports, the device involved had not undergone any repairs or modifications since it was purchased.

The uploader said that when he contacted the company’s official customer service, the staff replied that the remaining parts of the device would be collected and sent to the research centre for further testing.
Possible causes not ruled out
Apparently, that particular phone model was released in December 2022 and has been on the market for less than three years.
8world noted that several users speculated the explosion might be linked to battery quality, internal circuit design, external damage, or overheating.
Experts stressed that only professional testing could confirm the true cause.
On Sept 8, a company staff member told a reporter that such incidents are rare and usually result from a mix of different factors.
As of now, there is no official statement on the matter released by the company.
