BINTULU – The current COVID situation hasn’t been easy for everyone, especially those with mental disorders, who haved been forced to stay indoors and suffer in silence. As a result, some have resorted to drastic measures to release their pent-up frustrations.
A video of a shirtless man entering a supermarket and destroying dozens of goods inside the premises has gone viral on the Internet.

The man, believed to be suffering from a mental disorder. was seen climbing onto the seafood display rack with one hand clutching a walking stick and the other tossing fresh goods to the ground, whilst ignoring a bystander who tried asking his name.

As you can see from the photos, many products did not survive the man’s rampage and the aftermath was similar to that of a crime scene.
Bintulu police chief Superintendent Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed the incident and said the suspect has been remanded for five days starting yesterday (June 30). He will also be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for trespassing/housebreaking.

He added that the suspect tried to escape when police arrived at around 7 am.
“In an attempt to escape arrest, the suspect had damaged several items in the process.

“The items damaged included the ceiling of the supermarket and several air conditioners,” he said in a statement.
