Setia City Mall shooting incident
The shooting occurred on Feb 8 at Setia City Mall in Shah Alam. Yap fired eight shots inside the mall, hitting a 40-year-old male cleaner four times.
He then fled, hijacked a car by threatening the driver at gunpoint, and escaped via the Shah Alam Expressway before abandoning the vehicle and disappearing.
Police believe that during the Setia City Mall incident, Yap’s initial target was a gold shop. However, he encountered obstacles and abandoned the robbery, leading to the shooting and his escape.
Selangor police confirmed that Yap was an extremely dangerous individual with a long criminal history, including past warrants for drug offenses under the Dangerous Drugs Act in 2011 and 2022.
