What was supposed to be a day of joy and celebration quickly turned into one of deep sadness following the sudden demise of a groom in Penang.
The groom, identified as 34-year-old Mohamad Faiz Md Rozi, died at his family home Sungai Dua, Butterworth, on Dec 19 and this left his fiancée Nor Izzati devastated.
Died 1 day after birthday
Speaking to Harian Metro about the tragedy, Nor Izzati said she and Mohamad Faiz were supposed to marry at the Kepala Batas Religious Office at 10am on that fateful day.
However, that never came to pass as she later got a phone call from Mohamad Faiz’s sister at 2am informing her that he had passed away.

To further add on to the tragedy, Mohamad Faiz’s death comes just one day after celebrating his 34th birthday.

Nor Izzati added that Mohamad Faiz, a former electrical technician, didn’t have any health complication but noted he had experienced headaches.
“On the night before the wedding, I reminded him to sleep early via WhatsApp at 11pm and he told me he had finished ironing his wedding attire.
“I also poked fun at him by reminding him to look less tense on the wedding day so that he would look nice in the photos,” she recalled.

Little did Nor Izzati know that three hours later, she would receive news of her fiancé’s passing after his mother found him unconscious at 1.30am.
“When I reached his family home, his body was already in an ambulance being taken to Hospital Seberang Jaya.”
Accepts tragedy as fate
Despite the heartbreak, Nor Izzati said she fully accepts Mohamad Faiz’s untimely demise as fate.
What happened feels like a dream. He had promised to marry me, but Allah SWT loves him more.

“He was a good man. Thousands prayed for him after news of his death spread on social media. I don’t know whether I will ever meet a man like him again as he was someone who loved me, was afraid of losing me, and treated me like a princess,” she said.
Nor Izzati added that she and Mohamad Faiz first crossed paths in 2019 and reconnected during Ramadan this year after not seeing each other for four years.
“I last met him on Dec 5 to discuss their wedding and accompany him to the barbershop. He had kept his hair long for a long time, but I wanted him to cut it and he agreed.”
She also expressed sadness over not being able to serve Mohamad Faiz’s favourite dish, lontong, on their wedding day.
