28yo M’sian Woman Goes Missing While Heading To S’pore, Last Seen Near JB Mall

Hope her family finds her soon.
A 28-year-old woman, Irene Teng (陈蕙琪), has gone missing while traveling from her home to Singapore, with her last known location near a mall close to the Johor Bahru customs checkpoint.

Concerned about her safety, her family issued a public plea for help through social media today.

Did not enter Singapore

According to a missing person notice posted by Irene’s sister on Facebook, Irene, who works as a supermarket employee in Singapore, left home yesterday morning (23rd) to return to Singapore but lost contact with her family during the journey.

Irene’s sister mentioned in a comment that her phone had been unreachable since yesterday, prompting the family to file police reports in both Johor Bahru and Singapore, fearing she may have gone missing in Singapore.

After an investigation, Singaporean authorities confirmed that Irene had not entered the country, leading her family to believe she is still in Malaysia.

Attempts to contact has failed

The missing person notice describes Irene as approximately 1.5 meters tall, of medium build, with long hair and tattoos on her arms. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a pink top and white shorts.

Irene’s sister also revealed that Irene had returned to Johor Bahru last Friday (20th) to celebrate their mother’s birthday and was headed back to Singapore yesterday.

Attempts to contact her around 1 p.m. were unsuccessful, and her phone’s last location was traced to a mall near the Johor Bahru customs area.

Adding to the distress, the family received news of their grandmother’s passing on the same day, but they were unable to inform Irene due to her phone being unreachable.

Irene’s colleagues and housemates in Singapore confirmed they had not seen her since last Friday.

Police investigation ongoing

The Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Raub Selamat, confirmed that a missing person report was filed by Irene’s family at 2:16 a.m. today.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working with Irene’s family, who have provided additional details to aid in the search.
