A 28-year-old Malaysian man has been brightening up long Raya traffic jams by giving away free watermelons and drinks to stranded drivers.
The act of kindness took place in Kampung Beris Tokku, Terengganu, where vehicles were caught in heavy congestion during the festive period.
Hands out fruits to motorists in both directions

Reported by Kosmo!, Muhammad Lukmanul Hakim A. Rahmam, a watermelon entrepreneur, distributed the fruits to road users travelling towards both Kuala Terengganu and Kelantan.
Over the course of three days since the third day of Hari Raya, he shared nearly two tonnes of watermelons and Melon Manis Terengganu with passing motorists.
Drivers who were stuck in the jam were seen receiving the fruits and drinks, offering them some relief from the heat and long wait on the road.
Started as a small Raya initiative in 2023
According to Lukmanul Hakim, the effort began as a simple gesture during Aidilfitri in 2023.
He described it as a “small contribution” that he and his family decided to continue each year, especially during the festive travel period when traffic tends to build up.
Doing it because of the hot weather and closed shops

He explained that the current hot weather and limited food options during the holidays motivated him to step in and help.
With many eateries still closed during Raya, he wanted to make sure that drivers had something refreshing while being stuck in traffic.
He said seeing people smile and thank him after receiving the fruits and drinks gave him a strong sense of satisfaction.
Fruits sourced from family farm nearby
Most of the watermelons and Melon Manis Terengganu that were given out came from his family’s own farm located near the village.
By using their own harvest, Lukmanul Hakim and his family were able to sustain the initiative and continue spreading some festive cheer to those on the road.
What started as a small gesture has now grown into a meaningful Raya tradition for both his family and the many motorists who benefit from it.
