The victim was later identified as a 25-year-old Malaysian man named Cai Shi Yuan (transliteration), who had moved from Johor to Singapore for work, reported 8world.

Victim got married in Sept

Adding on to the tragedy was the revelation that Cai had just tied the knot less than a month before his untimely death.

In a Facebook post dated Sept 9, his wife shared a photo of both of them donning their wedding attire.

On the day of their marriage on Sept 16, Cai’s wife wrote in the caption that she was finally able to marry “the boy who said he wanted to marry me at first sight”.

In a separate post which showed more of their wedding photos, Cai’s wife wrote that she was “lucky to spend the rest of their lives together”

However, that joy was cut short with Cai’s passing, prompting his wife to post an obituary for him. But it has since been taken down.

According to 8world, she lamented that she wasn’t able to be with Cai until the last moments of his life and made her grief known in the post:

Why did God take you away from me? I really blame myself and feel so much regret. You made the last call to me at 5.52am but I was too tired and didn’t hear your final words. What did you want to say to me?”

Cai’s wife added that she will continue to stay strong despite her husband’s passing and thanked those who reached out to her to offer comfort and their condolences.

So far, Singapore police have ruled out foul play in Cai’s death based on preliminary investigations.
