A 23-year-old detainee has passed away after reportedly falling in the bathroom at the Perlis Correctional Centre in Guar Nangka, Arau.

Rushed to hospital after alleged fall
The incident, which took place on Thursday evening, saw the detainee being rushed to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) in Kangar at approximately 5.45pm.
Reported by FMT, he was placed in the intensive care unit but succumbed to his injuries at 10.20am yesterday (Mar 7).
Arau Police Chief, Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi, confirmed that authorities were alerted to the case when a staff member of the correctional centre lodged a police report at 1.37pm the same day.
Detained for drug-related offences
According to initial reports, the detainee, who was from Ulu Melaka, Langkawi, had been held at the correctional facility since 17 December last year on drug-related charges.
Medical examination reveals internal injuries
A preliminary medical examination revealed that the victim had suffered injuries to his liver and part of his intestines.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
