A young e hailing rider who died after being struck by a falling tree in Melaka on Saturday was working hard to save up for his wedding next year.
Saving up for his big day
Reported by Sinar Harian, the victim’s sister Izzaty Hamidah Sharil, 27, said her brother Muhammad Izzat Daanish Sharil, 22, had been juggling both a full time job and part time Grab deliveries to build his wedding fund.
She shared that he had just completed his marriage preparation course last week and was excited to start planning the ceremony scheduled for December next year.
Izzaty described him as a hardworking and independent person who never wanted to rely on his family even though they were only two siblings.
Tree suddenly collapsed onto him
The tragedy happened on Saturday at around 2.30 in the afternoon when Izzat was riding his motorcycle along Jalan Tun Razak to Ayer Keroh.
As he passed the area near the Temenggong Police Apartments in Taman Sentosa, a large tree suddenly toppled and crashed onto him. He died at the scene.
The same incident also injured two people who were travelling in a Perodua Axia when the tree fell.
Family still in shock and seeking answers
Izzaty recalled receiving a phone call from her mother informing her that her brother had passed away after being crushed by the fallen tree. She said the family is still struggling to accept the sudden loss.
The family is currently seeking legal advice to decide what actions to take regarding the incident.
The late Muhammad Izzat was buried at the Bukit Lantang Islamic Cemetery on Saturday night.
