21yo M’sian Girl Vanishes After Heading To SG For New Job 5 Months Ago

She was last seen on Aug 28, 2024.
A single mother is praying for her daughter’s safe return after the latter completely went off the radar after heading to Singapore five months ago.

Pau Yiew Ping, who formerly worked as a beautician, said the last time she saw her eldest daughter, 21-year-old Dionna Liew, was on Aug 28 last year when she flew to Singapore for a new job she had secured.

Speaking at a press conference at the Johor Bersatu associate wing’s office in Johor Bahru yesterday (Jan 10), Pau said Liew had worked as a piano teacher in Singapore for two years before she lost her job in June.

Following that, Liew returned to Johor in search of a new job and later told her mother that she had managed to secure an admin job in Singapore.

On Aug 28, she went to Singapore for the new job, and that was the last time I saw her.

“At first, I was able to contact her through text messages, but eventually the responses became shorter and less frequent over time.

“She usually replied very quickly and gave rather lengthy responses, but that changed after she returned to Singapore the second time. I felt like I was talking to someone else,” said Pau as quoted by The Star.

Soon, Pau stopped receiving messages from Liew altogether, prompting her to reach out to her social circle such as her ex-husband and friends in hopes of finding her daughter, but to no avail.

She then lodged a police report regarding Liew’s disappearance in both Malaysia and Singapore and was later informed by Singapore police that Liew was spotted at Changi Airport on the night of Aug 28.

Pau said her daughter may have boarded a plane to another country, but she has no idea which country she was headed for, stoking fears that Liew may have become a victim of a job scam.

“I will not be able to sleep peacefully until I know that she is safe. If she sees this (news article), I hope she will give me a call to put my mind at ease. That is my only wish,” she said, adding that her other two daughters are also trying to help track Liew.
