“I’m tired.”
They call it the noble profession. She calls it the year she lost faith in her students.

A Malaysian teacher recently took to Threads to share her frustration, describing 2025 as the worst year of her 13-year career.

Her post quickly went viral, sparking conversations about just how tough teaching has become in today’s classrooms.

In her post, the teacher revealed that she currently teaches one of the most challenging classes she has ever encountered.

Despite multiple efforts to maintain order, three students, one in particular have turned every lesson into chaos.

“I have been a teacher for 13 years. This year’s batch is the worst. On top of that, I got the worst class. There are 3 boys who are extremely disruptive. One of them is the worst of the three.”

I punished him by making him stand for not doing his work despite being warned for days. But instead, he sang, danced, and disturbed his friends. This is a Form 4 student.”

“I’ve scolded him, given demerits, referred him to the discipline teachers, and even had slow talks. Nothing works.

Today, something in me snapped, and I grabbed him by the hair. I felt guilty immediately, but he still talked back. I texted his mother straight away to explain what happened.”

By the end of her post, it was clear this teacher had reached a point of exhaustion.

“I don’t know how to teach this future generation anymore. I’m tired.”

As the story gained traction online, netizens began flooding the comments with advice, sympathy, and even survival tips for handling such disruptive students.

Some suggested focusing on students who do want to learn instead of wasting energy on one defiant boy:

“Don’t entertain him. Focus on the other 27 students. Let him be a clown by himself. Make him stand at the back of the class. Your mental health matters too.”

Others took a more structured approach, recommending proper documentation, counselling referrals, and a system of warnings that could eventually lead to expulsion if the behaviour continued.

“Record the video of his act, keep it as proof. After three counselling sessions and repeated offences, issue official warnings. If he continues, expel him. Settle.”

Silence as a weapon

Interestingly, some commenters believed the best way to deal with such students was not punishment or confrontation but silence.

“Every time he acts up, stop teaching. Get the whole class to watch him silently. When he gets embarrassed, he will stop on his own. Sometimes silence kills.”

Others suggested removing him from the classroom altogether to prevent further disruption.

“Take his chair outside. Let him talk to himself. Don’t let him disturb the whole class.”

As the discussion unfolded, some speculated whether undiagnosed conditions like ADHD or a lack of parental involvement might be at play.

Others saw it as a sign that teachers today are being pushed beyond their limits by a generation that simply doesn’t respond to traditional discipline.
