The education ministry will introduce a “co -teaching” approach under the 2027 school curriculum, where two teachers will conduct lessons together in the same classroom.
Education minister Fadhlina Sidek said the move aims to make teaching and learning more engaging, effective and inclusive by ensuring every student receives adequate guidance.
Two equal educators working side by side
She clarified that the approach is not about assigning teaching aides but is a collaboration between two equal educators working side by side to improve classroom delivery.
According to Berita Harian, Fadhlina said the co teaching model encourages active interaction in class and is expected to help close learning gaps among students.

To prepare for the rollout, the ministry has already begun training and professional development for teachers.
Fadhlina said the sessions for the 2026 cycle started earlier this year so schools can be fully ready by 2027.
Teachers are ready for this integrated learning approach which will be a new and enriching experience for them,” she added.
