For many, jet skiing is one of those must-try activities; fast, fun, and perfect for making holiday memories.
But when safety is overlooked, that fun can take a dangerous turn and that’s exactly what happened in a recent viral incident.
A fun ride that quickly went off course
In a video shared by TikTok page @langkawitour.my, two women were seen riding jet skis out at sea.
At first, it looked like a carefree outing, two friends enjoying their island vacation and the thrill of the waves.
But things escalated when the pair began riding too close to each other.
The sea was slightly choppy, and it quickly became clear that both women were struggling to handle the jet skis properly.
Despite their lack of control, they continued riding at high speeds, weaving around each other with little room for error.
Eventually, they crashed.
The moment, caught on drone footage, showed the two jet skis colliding, narrowly missing a serious injury. What should’ve been a fun experience quickly turned into a risky situation.
Netizens unimpressed
As the video gained traction online, many viewers expressed concern over the way the jet skis were handled.
In the comment section, people questioned whether the women had taken the safety briefing seriously, something that’s typically required before riding.
Their actions, some pointed out, weren’t just dangerous for themselves, but also for anyone else who might’ve been nearby.
One user noted that jet skis aren’t cheap, and any damage could easily cost thousands of Ringgit.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Langkawi Tour clarified a few things about the incident, with the first being that no injuries were reported following the crash.
When asked about safety presence at the scene, they said, “Our team is always monitoring the riders, and we use a drone as part of our safety measures and for documentation purposes.”
As for whether the riders were spoken to, they shared their staff did approach the girls after the incident as they needed to inspect the jet skis involved.
