Two women in Sabah were hit by an oncoming car while crossing the road, leading to their tragic deaths on the spot.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the accident took place near the Kampung Rugading along Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Tuaran at around 5.40am yesterday (Sept 30).
Harian Metro further reported that the victims were a mother and her daughter, where the former was accompanying the latter in crossing the road while heading to school.
In a statement by Tuaran district police chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin, he said the victim were run over by a Myvi which was driving towards Tuaran from Kota Kinabalu.
“As a result of the accident, both victims died at the scene, while the Myvi driver has come forward to the Traffic Police Station at the Tuaran District Police Headquarters (IPD) to assist in the investigation.
“Police are now investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving,” he said.
Noraidin added that several individuals have been interviewed to assist in the investigation and that the Myvi driver has been detained and remanded.
