A shocking shooting occurred at a shopping mall a little past midnight in Cheras today, leaving two men dead in its wake.
As police conduct their investigation into the incident, it is believed that gangsterism might have played a role in it, given the background of the victims.
2 men shot dead in front of Cheras mall
According to a witness, the two victims were reportedly heading toward their parked car in the shopping complex compound at around 12.15am.
Suddenly, a group of men wearing helmets suddenly ran toward the victims and fired several gunshots at them, causing them to slump to the ground and lie in a pool of blood.

“The suspects then fled the scene in a Perodua Alza. As for the victims, they were pronounced dead after getting shot in the body and head,” the witness told Berita Harian.
A team from the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) and the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD), assisted by the Police Forensics Unit, later arrived at the scene to carry out investigations.
Victims were infamous gangsters
China Press later reported that the victims, one who hailed from Sibu and the other from Bintulu, had ties to the criminal world and were well-known gang members in their respective areas.

Police sources also revealed that both of them had criminal records, with one of them being involved in a murder case.
Initial police investigations aren’t ruling out the possibility that the shooting is a gang-related revenge killing and police are working to track down the suspects.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
