A minor dispute between two customers at a supermarket in Kuching escalated into an all-out brawl which was reportedly sparked by queue-cutting while redeeming member vouchers.
The clip of the altercation also made rounds online, prompting a formal statement from the supermarket where the fight took place.
Queue-cutting leads to fight
In the viral video, it showed two men, one in a pink shirt and another in a black shirt, duking it out with their fists inside the store while shoppers looked on in stunned silence.

According to a comment left by a netizen who claimed to be at the scene, the man in pink had initially queued up behind her but briefly left the line to speak with a staff member.
Upon returning to his place in the queue, he was confronted by the man in black, who accused him of cutting the queue, leading to a verbal altercation.
Despite attempts by a staff member to mediate, the argument continued for some time and eventually descended into violence.

Supermarket responds
Not long after the clip went viral, the supermarket released a statement confirming the incident which took place on June 29.
An incident involving a customer dispute occurred in our store due to a moment of emotional impulse. Our team responded immediately and managed the situation appropriately.
“The individuals involved have since resolved the matter peacefully and offered mutual apologies. There was no impact on other customers, and the store environment has returned to normal,” the statement read.

In the comment thread, netizens bashed the supermarket for failing to prevent overcrowding at its premise and noted there wasn’t a security guard present to defuse the situation.


They also reprimanded the men for their lack of shame in choosing to fight in public.
