On Friday, two people were killed in a container lorry fire at Kilometer 259.6 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) travelling south near the Port Dickson Toll Plaza.
The incident, which occurred about 8.42 a.m., caused a 10-kilometer traffic jam since all four road lanes had to be closed.
Mohd Kamal Mohd Timar, chief of Seremban Fire Station 2, said he hurried to the scene as soon as he heard reports of the incident at 8.42 a.m.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the fire included a container lorry carrying a cargo of rubbish and plastic.
According to Sinar Harian, Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nanda Maarof said the victims were Mazlan Molot, 48, of Taman Putra Damai, Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Fauziah Uyop, 40.
“The victim’s identity has already been identified, Mazlan is the trailer driver while Fauziah is the passenger sitting in the front, both of whom were found in a state of complete collapse.
“They are believed to be a married couple but the police are still conducting further investigations into the relationship status of the two,” he said in a statement to the media on Friday.
