A 19-year-old student at a private college lost his life after his motorbike skidded on the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) and saw him being thrown off the vehicle and plunging to his death.
According to a report by NST, the victim fell from a height of 21 metres and landed on a grassy area on Persiaran Pulau Angsa.
Flung off DASH Highway
Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the victim was riding his motorbike on the 1/B 0.5 exit ramp of the DASH highway while coming from Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari.

He was then believed to have lost control of the vehicle while maneuvering around a bend and crashed before hitting a divider, leading to him being flung off the highway.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries. Witnesses to the accident have been urged to contact investigating officer, Inspector Nur Iqmal Maisarah Azman, at 017-2836851 to help with the investigation.
Extra safety fencing to be installed
Following the tragedy, Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) said it’s looking into putting more safety measures in place to prevent further tragedies.
In a statement, it said DASH Highway’s elevated curved sections were built “in full compliance with specifications approved by the authorities and certified engineers.”

While the design of the highway meets all requirements, we have taken proactive steps such as installing extra warning signs at strategic locations, enhancing public awareness efforts, and planning the installation of additional fencing to further improve safety.
“We extend our condolences to the victim’s family and will implement additional safety measures,” it said.
Prolintas added it has also given all evidence, including surveillance footage, to police for further investigation.
This isn’t the first time a life was lost at the DASH Highway, with another incident taking place back in February:
