An 18-year-old student, who had just completed his SPM exams, was killed on the spot after a Vietnamese woman, suspected of drink-driving, ploughed into him and his friends in Penang.
Was walking home after dinner
The fatal incident unfolded on Feb 20 when the teenager was walking home with two friends after a meal when a white Honda sedan suddenly crashed into them from behind.
Due to the fact that he was walking at the back, the victim bore the brunt of the crash, resulting in severe head injuries that led to his demise.
Another victim sustained minor injuries, while the other escaped unharmed.
According to China Press, authorities later said that the driver was a Vietnamese woman who allegedly was over the legal alcohol limit.
She also reportedly tried to flee the scene, where she ended up colliding into two pedestrians — leaving one dead and another injured.
She has since been taken into custody for further investigation.
Victim was the youngest in his family
The victim’s father later told the media that his son was the youngest of three siblings.
He also added his son had just finished secondary school and was eagerly waiting for his SPM results.
