According to a report by Utusan Borneo, the accident occurred at around 4pm near the traffic lights at the Indah Permai interchange in Kota Kinabalu.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda said in a statement that initial investigations found that the lorry, driven by Sajuan, was coming from the direction of Perumahan Kastam/Tebobon and heading towards Jalan Sepanggar.

“A witness claimed when the lorry driver reached the intersection, he allegedly ran a red light before crashing into a motorcycle that was passing through the junction with a green light in his favor.
“Both victims were confirmed dead at the scene by the attending medical officer while the 15-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth I Hospital for further treatment,” he said.
Adding on the tragedy was the fact that Eddie died just 24 hours away from receiving his SPM results, which were released today.

Eddie and Sajuan’s bodies were later handed over to police for further action.
The case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
Kasim also called upon road users to always be cautious and obey traffic regulations, especially at traffic lights which are accident-prone areas.
