A mother is seeking the public’s help in tracking down her 18-year-old daughter who has gone missing for the past 10 days.
This comes after the teen was seen leaving her dormitory with an unknown man on Feb 18, causing her mother to worry for her safety.

Speaking to Sin Chew Daily, Lin Xiulan (transliteration), a single mother from Kluang who works as a coffee shop assistant, said her daughter Pei Ting had moved to Kuala Lumpur six months ago for work alongside her elder sister, where they worked at different branches of the same company.
She added Pei Ting’s sister received a call from their boss after he was unable to contact Pei Ting, prompting her to check the CCTV at the dormitory they both lived in.
CCTV footage showed Pei Ting carrying her belongings and leaving with a man at around 2pm. Neither her mum nor sister have seen him before, leading them to believe she might have met him online.
“Since then, she has refused to answer calls or reply to WhatsApp messages. My daughter had also been unusually slow in responding, often taking one or two days to reply and often claimed she was busy with work.
“I carried her for nine months, risked my life giving birth to her, and raised her with great effort. Now she has left without a word and cut off all contact with us. I am truly worried about her safety and hope she reaches out to us soon,” said Pei Ting’s mother.
Police report made
Given the rising number of individuals going missing or being tricked into human trafficking scams, Lin is fearing the worst and pleaded with the public to provide leads on Pei Ting’s whereabouts.
She also urged the man who took Pei Ting to bring her home and contact the family as soon as possible.
Lin added she reported her daughter’s disappearance on Feb 19 and learnt that the man also filed a police report, but the details remain unclear.
She also shared Pei Ting’s missing person notice to several Facebook groups, where some netizens have claimed to see the teen in Melaka.
