17yo M’sian Boy Attacks Father With Box Cutter After Being Questioned About Skipping School

The teen has been remanded for three days to assist in investigations.
A teenage boy in Kuala Lumpur allegedly attacked his father with a box cutter after being questioned for not attending school.

According to China Press, the incident happened at a home in Setapak on Monday (Nov 17).

Boy allegedly lashes out during argument

The teen was asked by his father why he skipped school, leading to a heated argument between them.

Police also confirmed to the Chinese daily that the teen became upset during the dispute, which then turned into a physical struggle.

During the altercation, the teen allegedly pulled out a box cutter from his pocket and slashed his father’s back and left arm.

His 15-year-old sister, who was present, was also almost attacked but managed to run away. Both the father and sister later lodged a police report.

The 47-year-old father received treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for his injuries.

Teen suspect arrested and remanded

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief ACP Mohamad Lazim Ismail also confirmed the arrest of the 17-year-old suspect at 6.42 pm on the same day.

He said the teen has been remanded for three days to assist in investigations.

Police are probing the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a weapon and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
