Conversations reportedly involved polls where members voted on which girl should be targeted next.

Some group chats even detailed the selling prices for individual AI-generated images, and buyers could request specific “poses” or “themes.”

“He smiled at me after doing this”

“He smiled and said hi as if nothing happened,” she said. “How can someone who’s done such a thing act like this?”

She also described the emotional trauma of seeing her face attached to a body and circulated among strangers, calling the experience degrading and dehumanizing.

The victim said she was first alerted to the group when another classmate sent her screenshots showing her face attached to a naked body.

In her Instagram post, the victim ha made four clear demands to the school and authorities:

  1. Reveal the identities of those who requested and consumed the explicit content.

The remark sparked widespread criticism online, with many accusing the teacher of being dismissive of the victims’ trauma.

In a formal statement released yesterday (Apr 8), the school confirmed it received reports of AI-generated images involving both students and alumni.

It stated that it had immediately begun an internal investigation and was cooperating fully with police.

The school added that spreading unverified or graphic content could cause additional trauma to victims and warned students and the public to avoid doing so.

Police investigation underway, suspect detained

Foon Yew High School Kulai’s principal, Gan Chuang Chee told Oriental Daily that one of the male suspects was detained by police on Monday night.

He was later brought to court Tuesday morning for a remand extension to assist further investigations.

According to China Press, the suspect reportedly admitted to his actions during questioning and is now being held under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and possibly the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, depending on the victims’ ages.

Deptuty Minister voices concern

Deputy Communications and Digital Minister and Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching voiced strong concern about the incident, urging victims who have yet to come forward to contact her directly for help.

She stressed the importance of emotional support for those affected.

This incident not only constitutes a serious violation of personal privacy and dignity but could also inflict lasting psychological trauma on the victims.

To date, my assistant has accompanied seven different victims to file police reports at the Kulai District Police Headquarters.

“If there are any other victims who have yet to lodge a report, I encourage them to contact my office.

“Whether you’re seeking legal advice, emotional support, or simply someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to contact my office. We are here for you, and we will do our best to provide the help you need,” she wrote.

Teo also said that if found guilty of producing or distributing pornographic material through digital means:

  • The perpetrator could face a fine up to RM500,000, jail up to 5 years, or both.
  • If the material involves minors or AI-generated content depicting minors, the penalties double in severity.
  • Selling obscene content online can carry fines of up to RM1 million and 5 years’ imprisonment.

‘Stop victim blaming’

In her Instagram story, the student condemned victim-blaming attitudes.

“Don’t ask us why we sent photos, because we didn’t. These were made with AI without our consent,” she said. “Girls must not stay silent. Speak out. This shouldn’t happen to anyone.”

Her call for justice has since been widely shared, with her post receiving more than 28,000 reactions across platforms.

This is a developing story.
