A 17-year-old student from Foon Yew High School in Johor has been officially expelled for creating and distributing obscene images of female students using artificial intelligence(AI).
This was confirmed by the school board in an official statement on Thursday afternoon.
The board stated the action was taken following a full internal review, dismissing claims that the student had only received minor disciplinary warnings.

They emphasized that the decision strictly adhered to school regulations, adding that the student, who had no prior disciplinary record, had been formally expelled with parental notice.
School apologizes for delay, vows improvement in handling such cases
In a six-point statement, the board admitted that the school’s initial response was not swift enough, which drew widespread public criticism.
They have now demanded that the administration act more decisively in future incidents and expressed gratitude for the community’s concern over the matter.
The board also committed to enhancing procedures for dealing with serious misconduct, particularly those involving student safety and digital abuse.
Foon Yew High School will provide comprehensive assistance to those affected by the incident, including psychological counseling and legal aid when necessary.
The school pledged to protect the identities of the victims and ensure they do not suffer further trauma,” it wrote.
Counseling sessions will be conducted by both school-appointed and external mental health professionals.
Accusations against teacher ruled misleading
The board also addressed public accusations made against a disciplinary assistant director, Wong Kian Kiet (Transliteration), stating that his comments had been distorted or taken out of context online.

They firmly defended the teacher’s integrity and warned against harassment or defamation of staff and students.
They reiterated their duty to uphold both student well-being and staff dignity, vowing to take legal action against any parties responsible for defamation or cyberbullying.
School urges government to help trace anonymous online harasser
A separate case involving an anonymous online user known as “Li Xiaobai,” who allegedly harassed alumni and distributed more AI-generated indecent images, is currently under police investigation.
The school has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement.
They have also appealed to Deputy Minister of Communications and Kulai MP, Teo Nie Ching, to assist in identifying the culprit through relevant authorities.
The school has also announced a series of initiatives to improve campus safety and ethics education.
These include new curriculum additions focusing on digital safety, rule of law, sexual education, and anti-violence topics.
The board will work closely with administrators across all three Foon Yew campuses to foster a respectful and informed school culture through better internet literacy and awareness programs.
