16yo M’sian Girl Missing From Home For Over 2 Weeks, Says She Will Return When She ‘Becomes Successful’

She left her home on May 26.
The family of 16-year-old Wu Peishan (transliteration) is seeking the public’s help in getting her home safely after she ran away from her home in Taiping more than two weeks ago.

Following her lengthy disappearance, her worried father has since lodged a police report and held a press conference to appeal for the public’s assistance.

Was a school dropout

According to Wu’s father, he said his youngest daughter dropped out of school after Form 2 and worked for a while before staying at home after stopping work.

He described her as quiet and reserved person who didn’t socialise much and had few friends. He added that she had no problems with her family members too.

“I believe my daughter may have met a male friend while working at a clothing store. This friend has picked her up from the workplace before.

I have never objected to my daughter making friends, but I only reminded her not to trust people too easily,” he said.

Wu added before he left for work in KL on May 25, his daughter showed no signs of unusual behaviour, leading him to think everything was fine.

However, his eldest daughter later contacted him the next day and told him Wu had run away from home.

“She left behind only a note and took with her some clothes, her identification card, and birth certificate. Since she had never traveled far from home before, we are extremely worried about her safety,” he said.

Here’s the text of the note Wu had left behind:

“To my family, please forgive me. I can’t stay at home any longer and I’m under pressure. What I’ve done is wrong. Please don’t be worried for me. I want to calm myself down and I know how to take care of myself.
“I can no longer bear staying at home. I hope everyone takes good care of their health. When I’ve become successful, I’ll come back.”

Despite the family going around asking about her whereabouts, there has been no news thus far as they’re unable to reach her via phone calls due to her phone being switched off.

Assistant to Pokok Assam state assemblyperson Ong Seng Guan, who was also present at the press conference, urged the public to contact Wu’s father at 014-9145083 if they have any information about her location.

He also hopes that if Wu sees the news, she will reach out to her father to let him know she is safe and not let her family worry any longer.
