A total of 15 Malaysians taking part in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission have been confirmed detained by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), while two others are currently uncontactable.
Among those held are celebrity siblings Nur Heliza binti Helmi and Nur Hazwani Afiqah binti Helmi, who were onboard the vessel Hio.
Their ship was intercepted in international waters at around 2.34am local time, according to Kosmo.
M’sians detained on multiple ships
According to Sumud Nusantara Command Centre, the detained Malaysians are spread across several vessels:
- Kapal Sirius: Muhammad Haikal bin Abdullah, Muhammad Muaz bin Zainal Abidin, Mohammad Zulfadhli bin Khiruddin, Mohd Rusydi bin Ramli
- Kapal Alma: Ahmad Musa Alnuwaryi bin Kamaruzaman, Illyia Balqis binti Suhaimi, Sul Aidil bin Sudi
- Kapal Huga: Nur Fazelah binti Mad Tahil (Zizi Kirana)
- Kapal Grande Blu: Danish Nazran bin Murad, Nurfarahin binti Romli (Farah Lee)
- Kapal Hio: Nur Heliza binti Helmi, Nur Hazwani Afiqah binti Helmi
Earlier, videos from the crews of Sirius, Alma, and Huga were posted online as emergency calls, showing the Malaysians holding up their passports and confirming they had been detained.
Kapal Free Willy also intercepted
At 7.53pm Gaza time, another vessel — Kapal Free Willy — was also stopped by Israeli forces in international waters.
Onboard were three more Malaysians:
- Hareez Adzrami (Haroqs)
- Haikal Zulkepli
- Dr Taufiq Razif
A video uploaded shortly after showed them holding their passports while announcing they had been captured.
Two Malaysians onboard Kapal Mikeno are currently uncontactable since the attack:
- Nurul Hidayah binti Mohd Amin (Ardell Aryana)
- Razali bin Awang
