A 14-year-old girl was found dead, believed to have fallen from the 21st floor of an apartment building in Paya Terubong last night (Sept 14).
The victim was found lying in a pool of blood by members of the public on the sixth floor of the residential complex.
Reported by Kosmo!, North East District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhamad, stated that his team received a report about the incident at 8.06pm.
According to him, initial investigations found that the victim, who was from Butterworth, was unconscious on the floor below the apartment building.
The North East District Police Headquarters (IPD) Investigation Team, assisted by the state Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Forensic Investigation Team, conducted an examination of the deceased’s body and the area around the scene.
The investigation found that there were no criminal elements involved against the victim,” he said late last night.
He added that the body of the deceased has been sent to the Forensic Department of Penang Hospital and an autopsy is expected to be carried out this morning.
“The case is classified as sudden death and a Sudden Death Report (SDR) has been opened.
An investigation into the cause of death will be conducted from various angles,” he said.
Therefore, he added, police are urging the public not to make any speculations about the case as it could jeopardise the investigation.
