During our schooling days, we would often pull the ‘chair-pulling prank’ on our classmates by yanking the chair from underneath them when they’re about to sit down.
While most of the time the ‘victim’ doesn’t suffer serious injuries, there are still times where things can go horribly wrong.

13yo M’sian girl fractures pelvis due to chair-pulling prank
According to a report by NST, a Form 1 student in Batu Pahat, Johor, was left grievously injured after her classmate moved the chair on purpose on Nov 17.
As a result, she fractured her pelvis and is now in a great deal of pain.
To add insult to injury, her family members claim that the school didn’t offer any form of assistance and displayed a nonchalant attitude over the incident.
Teacher dismisses injury as ‘fate’
Speaking to the English daily, the victim’s sister Shahirah Shah said the former complained of pain after returning from school and was sent the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital. However, her pain only worsened in the evening.

Medical scans later showed that the teen suffered a broken tailbone, which was the cause of her severe pain.
Shahirah then accused the school teachers of being indifferent towards her sister’s plight, alleging that one of them dismissed the injury as “fate”.
The teacher’s indifference was shocking. The principal wasn’t notified right away, and the teacher who commented on the injury allegedly did nothing to assist.
“The teacher even mocked the doctor’s report, claiming her own child, who was also a doctor, would not consider it to be severe,” she claimed.
Shahirah also alleged that the family’s request to move her sister’s class to the ground floor next year was rejected by the school.
On top of that, the victim later found herself getting kicked out from her class’ WhatsApp group, a move which her family said was a form of ostracism.

Shahirah added that while this wasn’t the first time such incidents have happened, she said it shouldn’t be viewed lightly and called upon schools to prioritise safety and educate students on the risks of pulling such pranks.
The school has yet to respond to NST’s request for comment.
Last year, a similar incident took place, which left a girl bedridden:
