A 13-year-old girl was found unconscious at a house in Sungai Buloh yesterday (Apr 2) and was later confirmed dead at the scene.
According to authorities, a report regarding the incident was received at around 6.27pm, prompting police to rush to the location.
However, a medical officer who was present at the scene confirmed that the teenage girl had already passed away, reported China Press.
Following the incident, the victim’s body was transported to Hospital Sungai Buloh’s Forensic Department.
A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Police probing case under Child Act
So far, police have recorded statements from three witnesses to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which relates to offences involving individuals responsible for a child’s care who may have neglected or exposed the child to physical or emotional harm.
If convicted, offenders may face a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to 20 years, or both.
Police have stressed that investigations are still ongoing and urged the public to refrain from making speculations that could interfere with the case.
