In a rather bizarre case from Shah Alam, a 13-year-old schoolboy cooked up an elaborate lie just to avoid school – all because his shoes got soiled by cat faeces.
Didn’t want to go to school with dirty shoes
According to Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the boy and his 37-year-old father showed up at the police station yesterday (Sept 11) to file the report.

The boy lodged a police report claiming he was nearly abducted on his way to school, as reported by NST.
However, during investigations, officers quickly discovered the story was completely made up.
“The boy admitted he didn’t want to attend school because his shoes had been dirtied by cat faeces, so he lied to his father about being kidnapped,” said Iqbal.
Just a stern warning this time
Since the boy is still in school, no legal action was taken. However, both he and his father were issued a stern warning by police.
The father also withdrew the false report after being informed of the truth.
False reports carry serious consequences
Iqbal reminded the public that lodging false reports is an offence under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which can lead to up to six months in jail, a RM2,000 fine, or both.
While the boy was let off with just a warning this time, police stressed that such actions waste valuable time and resources.
