13yo Boy Loses 3 Family Members To Fire Which Burned Down Johor Home

They were his dad, sister, and grandma.
A fire broke out during the wee hours of the morning today (Jan 17), where it claimed the lives of three individuals.

The sole survivor of the tragedy was a 13-year-old boy, who suffered severe burns and is now receiving treatment at the Sultan Ismail Hospital.

According to a statement by the Johor State Firefighter and Rescue Department, they received a call about the fire at a house in Jalan Limau Manis, Kampung Oren in Ulu Tiram, Johor at 2.46am.

Less than 15 minutes later, firefighters from the Johor Jaya and Tebrau fire departments arrived at the scene and took around two hours to put out the fire before wrapping up the rescue operation at 5.10am.

Unfortunately, the fire claimed a total of three lives: an 11-year-old girl, a 30-year-old man, and a 63-year-old woman. However, they managed to save a 13-year-old boy who was hiding in the living room.

According to China Press, the victims were later identified to be the boy’s father, sister, and grandmother and their bodies were found severely burned.

The Chinese daily also reported that 80% of the house was destroyed by the fire. However, the cause for the blaze currently remains unknown.

Our condolences to the boy for the tragedy and we hope the authorities can identify the cause of the fire soon.
