The dreams of an 11-year-old Malaysian swimmer, Aqil, were shattered after an alleged assault by a teacher left him with severe injuries.
Taking to Facebook, Aqil’s mother, Samina, claims the incident, which occurred on December 10, caused a cochlear concussion and other complications that continue to affect his health over a month later.
Slapped after touching teacher’s back by accident
According to Samina, Aqil accidentally touched the male teacher’s back after nearly falling, but the teacher misunderstood and reacted by slapping him and striking his head.
Since then, Aqil has suffered persistent headaches, nosebleeds, and vomiting.
Medical examinations revealed nerve swelling and subcutaneous bleeding around his ears, causing balance issues and other symptoms.

Forced to withdraw from competition
Despite months of intensive training to qualify for competitions such as the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) and the Southeast Asian Games, Aqil has been forced to withdraw.
His injuries now make swimming impossible, with frequent nosebleeds and dizziness occurring in the water.
We are heartbroken. His dreams and hard work have gone to waste,” Samina said.

She also expressed concern for his safety, noting the risks swimmers face with ear injuries.
The family is pursuing justice, urging accountability for the teacher’s actions and hoping for change to prevent similar incidents.
