An 11-year-old boy took his mother’s car for a joyride with his younger brother and cousin before crashing into a drain on Jalan Telok Gong, Klang.
Three children found at crash site
The incident took place around 10am on Saturday (July 19th), when the boy drove the grey Proton Saga for about 2 kilometres before losing control.
According to South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, the crash drew attention on social media after images of the car went viral, as reported by Sinar Harian.

Police later found the vehicle, its registered owner, and the three children believed to be in the car at the time.
Two of the children hold refugee status
“The children involved consist of two siblings who are United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cardholders and their cousin who is a local citizen,” stated Ramli on Sunday (July 20th).

Their cousin, who is a local citizen, was also in the vehicle.
Mother left car unattended briefly
Preliminary investigations showed the car was first driven by the children’s mother from Bandar Sultan Suleiman, North Port Klang, to her sister’s house in Telok Gong.
“She left the vehicle briefly to use the toilet. That’s when her 11-year-old son took the car keys and went out with his 7-year-old brother and their cousin,” Ramli added.
Authorities have not disclosed if any legal action will be taken, but investigations are ongoing under the appropriate traffic laws.
