KUALA LUMPUR – A woman in her 40s was beaten and stripped naked after failing to settle her debts with an illegal loan shark, or ‘Ah Long’.
Social activist Kuan Chee Heng, who is also the president of Community Policing Malaysia (CPM), said the victim had previously worked at a furniture shop.

She then borrowed RM16,000 from the loan shark to pay for her father’s funeral expenses in May.
However, she fell behind her repayment after losing her job during MCO.
Prior to that, she had settled part of her debt along with the interest rates,” shared Kuan in a Facebook post.
He added that the victim was later abducted and taken to an unknown place, where she was beaten and stripped naked.
The loan shark also threatened to publish her nude pictures if she continued to fall behind in making payments.

However, the victim refused to lodge a police report against the Ah long as her pictures are still at large.
I will help to repay her debt. I will also help settle her father’s funeral rites,” Kuan wrote.
At the end of of his post, Kuan advised Malaysians not to sign any agreement with loan sharks.
“If you need help, please get in touch with our hotline or any charitable agency.”
Previously, Kuan shared that he needed a break due to incessant calls for help.
